Hey there! It's me, Miss VanLeeuwen (Van-Loo-In)!
I grew up in a big family based out of a small town in Southeast Kansas. I have my Bachelors of Art in English from Kansas State University, and I received my Masters of Art in Teaching; Early Childhood Unified with an ESOL endorsement from Wichita State University. I’ve spent the last three years teaching Early Childhood Special Education at Derby Hills Elementary in Derby, Kansas. At Derby Hills, we were a “Trauma Sensitive School” and focused on self regulation, meaningful relationships, and relevant curriculum. I plan on introducing all of these things into our classroom to help us learn and grow! This year, I look forward to smashing IEP goals, growing as a family, and finding the successes in every single day! The little things are beautiful!
Things I enjoy:
Being silly, hugs, making and seeing progress, traveling (maybe *too much*), reading, naps, sporting events (Go Wildcats! Go Shox!), hiking, volunteering, staying active in my church, kids!
