Chapter | Subject |
Real Numbers (Ch. 1) | This chapter focuses on content from the Number System (NS) domain of common core. Students will simplify real numbers expressions using postive and negative fractions, mixed numbers, decimals, percents, integer exponents and laws of exponents. Students will also be able to identify rational and irrational numbers and use scientific notation in different ways. |
Equations in One Variable (Ch. 2) | This chapter focuses on content from the Expressions and Equations (EE) domain of common core. Students will be able to write and solve one and two step linear equations. |
Equations in Two Variables (Ch. 3) | This chapter focuses on content from the Expressions and Equations (EE) domain of common core. Students will graph proportional relationships and identify the unit rate as the slope of the linear function. Students will use tables, graphs and models to represent, analyze, and solve real-world problems related to linear equations. |
Functions (Ch. 4) | This chapter focuses on the content from the Funtions (F) domain of common core. Students will use words, tables, equations, and graphs to represent linear and nonlinear functions. |
Triangles and the Pythagorean Theorem (Ch. 5) | This chapter focuses on content from the Geometry (G) domain of common core. Students will take previously learned information and apply it to algebraic concepts to find relationships between lines, angles, and triangles. A specific focus will be on the Pythagorean Theorem. |
Transformations (Ch. 6) | This chapter focuses on content from the Geometry (G) domain of common core. Students will study the effects of various types of transformations. |
Congruence and Similarity (Ch. 7) | Students will use the Real Numbers to find square roots and cube roots in order to apply the Pythagorean Theorem. |
Volume and Surface Area (Ch. 8) | This chapter focuses on content from the Geometry (G) domain of common core. Students will find the volume and surface area of cylinders and cones. |
Scatter Plots and Data Analysis (Ch. 9) | This chapter focuses on content from the Statistics and Probability (SP) domain of common core. Students will construct and interpret scatter plots and determine lines of best fit. |

Materials: It is the expectation that you will bring the following to class everyday.
1) Textbook
2) iPad that is charged
3) Pencil, ink pen, paper
Grading Policy: Calculation of Final Trimester Grade:
A =90-100% Simple Average based on Total Points possible
B =80-89% OR
C =70-79% Weighted Categories:
D =60-69% 60% Tests
F =0-59% 40% Daily Assignments
Absences: If you are absent, when you return to school it is your responsibility to check with each teacher to see what you missed during your absence. Based on the number of days you missed, you will have that same number of days to submit make-up assignments.
Late Work: One extra attempt to be grade at 80% partial credit
iPad Policy in this class: You are NOT allowed to use your iPad for personal pleasure (gaming, internet surfing, ...) in this class unless the teacher has verbally given permission for students to do so.
